Functional Movement Screen
We use Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screen to assess and analyze our clients’ baseline movement capabilities and deficiencies. Appropriate for athletes and non-athletes alike, this movement assessment gives us clear information about what you are currently doing well and what could be improved. Above and beyond static postural assessment, the Functional Movement Screen gives us detailed information about range of motion, joint mobility, core stability, and left/right strength imbalances. By establishing a baseline, we are able to re-assess as bodywork and corrective exercise strategies are implemented so we can measure progression towards your goals.
Corrective Exercise
Following the Functional Movement Screen, we use Corrective Exercise techniques (developed by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and others) to design a set of exercises to help correct structural imbalances and movement deficiencies. In the studio we may use TRX, kettlebells, dumbbells, or bands to perform targeted corrective work. In addition, we will prescribe very specific instructions on how to best employ foam rolling, self-myofascial release, stretching, activation, and integration exercises to steadily progress towards your movement goals at home or in the gym. Combined with Sports Recovery/Performance Massage, Structural Integration, or Myofascial Release, Corrective Exercise speeds the progression towards better movement and empowers the client with tools that they can use indefinitely.
